The Foundation Hall

the first thing you notice upon entering as you walk into The Foundation Hall of the 9/11 Museum are the 24-foot-long pieces of steel that formed the base of the original World Trade Center. Upon arrival at The Foundation Hall, you will find the Last Column. This is the last piece of Twin Tower steel removed from Ground Zero on May 20, 2002. Descend even further you come across a large piece of twisted steel that used to be located on the 93rd to 99th floors exactly where the first plane drilled into the tower.

Survivors' Stairs 9/11 museum

The Survivors’ Stairs is located in the central area between the two exhibits Memorial and Historical Memorial Exhibition. The Survivors’ Stairs is a stairwell made of granite and concrete and has thirty-seven steps that once connected the outdoor plaza outside the Twin Towers to the street below. The Survivors’ Stairs was the staircase that carried hundreds of survivors to safety trying to escape from the burning towers.

ladder 3 9/11 Museum

If you walk toward the north tower you will come across the completely destroyed fire truck from Ladder 3. Ladder 3 was one of the first fire units to arrive at the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001. The fire truck was severely damaged by the collapse of the Twin Towers and the company lost all 11 members on board. In July 2011, the fire truck was solemnly placed in the 9/11 Memorial Museum.

The 9/11 museum's most impressive room

One of the most the most impressive room about the attacks themselves can be found in the Historical exhibition room, no photos or sound recordings are allowed here. Here you relive the entire day through photos, images and sound recordings. So you can hear farewell phone calls from the planes and towers that pierce through the marrow. There are also special niches that can be perceived as very shocking these are clearly indicated and can be skipped.
