From here you have a panoramic view of Ellis Island, Lower Manhattan and the Brooklyn Bridge. Here you can sit quietly and enjoy the view of the Hudson River. Many visitors bring their lunch to enjoy the surroundings in peace. Nevertheless, the statue may be temporarily closed, such as during a federal shutdown. During a shutdown, many government services are temporarily shut down, including the National Park Service, which is responsible for managing Liberty Island.  <\/p><p>When this happens, ferries to Liberty Island are not always available and visitors cannot enter the island or the Statue of Liberty. The museum, pedestal and observation deck are also closed then. Visitors in that case can only take photos from a distance from Battery Park or Liberty State Park.  <\/p><p>Therefore, it is important to check your visit in advance. Book your tickets on time, because if you want to buy them on the spot, you run the risk of ending up in a long queue at the ticket office, which can sometimes take several hours.  <\/p><p><strong>2. Go out early.<\/strong>  The first boat is usually the quietest. Personally, I do this at many sights in New York because it not only gives you time to look around quietly, but also to take nice pictures without crowds of tourists in your picture. <\/p><p><strong>3. Bring water and snacks.<\/strong>  There are dining options, but they can be pricey.<\/p><p><strong>4. Also visit Ellis Island.<\/strong>  I did this myself, and I recommend it to everyone.
