The Empire State Building was the first observation deck in New York to open to visitors. In the years that followed, several more observation decks were added, each with its own views and experience. One observation deck is known for its views over Central Park, while another offers views of Downtown Manhattan. Advantages<\/strong>
The biggest advantage of the Empire State Building, in my opinion, is its location in Midtown Manhattan<\/a>. Because the observation deck is located further south than Top of the Rock, you get better views of Lower Manhattan<\/a> and the Statue of Liberty<\/a>. From here, you can also clearly see just how massive the New York skyline really is.<\/p>\n

Disadvantages<\/strong>

From the different observation decks, you can enjoy views of Lower Manhattan, Central Park<\/a>, and Uptown Manhattan. For many visitors, the view of the Empire State Building is what makes Top of the Rock one of the best observation decks in New York.<\/p>\n

Advantages<\/strong><\/p>\n

The biggest advantage of Top of the Rock, in my opinion, is the view of the Empire State Building and Central Park. Especially around sunset, the views here are very impressive. In recent years, new attractions have also been added, such as The Skylift. This experience places you on a rotating platform at around 275 meters above the ground with a 360 degree view over New York.<\/p>\n

The Beam is also a fun addition to a visit to Top of the Rock. This attraction is inspired by the famous 1932 photo showing eleven construction workers having lunch on a steel beam during the construction of Rockefeller Center.<\/p>\n

Disadvantages<\/strong><\/p>\n

The biggest disadvantage of Top of the Rock, in my opinion, is the crowds. Because this is one of the most popular observation decks in New York, waiting times for the elevators can become quite long. Especially around sunset, the observation decks are often very busy. SUMMIT One Vanderbilt is the most modern observation deck in New York. With multiple floors filled with mirrors, light installations, and interactive spaces, visiting SUMMIT feels more like a complete experience than just an observation deck.<\/p>\n

Advantages<\/strong><\/p>\n

I am impressed every time I visit SUMMIT One Vanderbilt. It is also my favorite observation deck in New York. Not only do you get incredible views of Midtown Manhattan, the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building, Bryant Park<\/a>, Brooklyn,<\/a> and Queens<\/a>, but the overall experience is completely different from the other observation decks in New York.<\/p>\n

One major advantage is that part of SUMMIT is indoors. This makes the observation deck comfortable to visit all year round, even during bad weather or cold winter days.<\/p>\n

Disadvantages<\/strong><\/p>\n

Personally, I think SUMMIT One Vanderbilt has very few real disadvantages. However, it is often extremely busy, and waiting lines can become quite long. Even with a reserved time slot, you may still have to wait a while before going up.<\/p>\n

In addition, the mirrors, lighting effects, sounds, and crowds can feel overwhelming for some visitors. Especially if you are sensitive to a lot of stimuli at once, visiting SUMMIT can feel quite intense.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Edge at Hudson Yards is located on the west side of Manhattan and is the highest outdoor observation deck in New York. What makes this observation deck unique is the platform that extends about 25 meters out from the building. Part of the floor is made of glass, allowing you to look straight down onto the streets of New York.<\/p>\n

Edge also features a unique attraction: City Climb at Edge. This is the highest outdoor climbing experience in New York. You climb along the outside of the building to a height of around 365 meters. Once at the top, you can lean forward over the edge while enjoying views of Manhattan<\/a> and the rest of New York City. Personally, I found this to be one of the most unforgettable experiences I have ever had in New York.<\/p>\n

Advantages<\/strong><\/p>\n

One major advantage of Edge at Hudson Yards, in my opinion, is its location. You can easily combine a visit with a walk along the High Line<\/a> or a sightseeing cruise with Circle Line New York<\/a>. Especially from the Hudson River, you get beautiful views of the Manhattan skyline and famous New York landmarks<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Disadvantages<\/strong><\/p>\n

Personally, I think Edge is best visited on warm spring or summer days. Because the observation deck is completely open and located on the 100th floor, it is often very windy. During the colder months, it can therefore feel quite chilly.<\/p>\n

Waiting times can also become long here, even if you reserved timed-entry tickets in advance. Once upstairs, it is often crowded near the glass walls of the observation deck.<\/p>\n

One World Observatory is located inside One World Trade Center, the tallest building in New York. The tower stands on the site where the Twin Towers once stood until 2001. It is also the only major observation deck in New York where you cannot go outside.<\/p>\n

From the observation deck, you can enjoy views of Lower Manhattan, the Hudson River, the East River, Brooklyn, New Jersey, and the 9\/11 Memorial<\/a>. On clear days, you can even see the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge<\/a>.<\/p>\n

One of the most unique parts of visiting One World Observatory is the Sky Pods. These elevators take you to the top of the building in less than a minute. During the ride, large screens show how the New York skyline has evolved over the years. Once the screens lift, the views over New York City appear.<\/p>\n

Advantages<\/p>\n

Personally, I think One World Observatory is especially worth visiting because you can easily combine it with the 9\/11 Museum and the 9\/11 Museum<\/a>. The Oculus<\/a> is also nearby. Inside this iconic building, you will find Westfield World Trade Center, one of the largest shopping centers in Manhattan.<\/p>\n

Disadvantages<\/p>\n

The biggest disadvantage of One World Observatory, in my opinion, is that the observation deck is completely indoors. Unlike other observation decks in New York, there are no outdoor sections, meaning you are always viewing the city through glass.<\/p>\n

In addition, security checks here are stricter than at most other observation decks in New York.
